Technology in the School

Picture
We strive to use the latest technology throughout our school.  Each room in Pre-K and 1st through 6th grades are equipped with Promethean Boards.  These boards include ActivResponse systems for students to electronically answer questions that present on the board.  The boards also have ActivView, which allows the teacher to use a camera to show work or to project a book on the board for all to follow along.  All Students in grades Pre-K through 2nd grade have netbook computers assigned to them for the year.  The computers do remain at school.  Students in grades 3-6 have Mac Book computer labs at a rate of 1 computer for every 2 students.  Each teacher is assigned Mac Book as their teacher computer.  We utilize 3 programs with our technology.  Students are given STAR Reading and STAR Math tests periodically that gives a grade level equivalency.  Students take the NWEA test each 9-weeks.  The NWEA gives students a scale score that is put against the scale score a student in that grade should score.  Our most recent addition is Kids College.  In Kids College, students are given 3-5 questions to answer.  After correctly answering these questions, students are given 45 seconds to play a game of their choice.  Students can pick from football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and other games.  Students earn trophies and points for the competitive games, while constantly working on state standards in multiple choice style questions.  Our Pre-K program has 24 iPads to use in the development with numbers, letters, colors, shapes, etc.  Each teacher also has an iPod touch to use in different ways throughout the classroom.
