Get to Know the Principal

Picture
I am Brooks Rawson, Principal of Alamo City School.  The 2011-2012 school year will be my 3rd year as principal of ACS.  The year before I was principal, I was the administrative liaison for ACS.  Prior to being administrative liaison, I was the PE teacher for 10 years.  I hope you will always feel welcome at ACS and that you will enjoy any visit you might have to our school.
Pictured above is my family.  My wife, Gina, also works at ACS as our Federal Projects and Special Education Director.  Both of my children attend ACS.  Ella Grace will be 10 in September and is in 4th grade.  Garet is 4 and is in Pre-K this year.
I also coach our Alamo Red Devils 5th and 6th grade football team.  This season will be my 5th as the head coach.  We are currently on a 31 game unbeaten streak.
I love being with my family and taking family trips.  I sing in an acappella gospel quartet, The HIMS.  I love to fish and play sports anytime I can.  I am also very involved with Sardis Lake (MS) Christian Camp.
I love Alamo City School and want what is best for each child.  If I can be of help to you at any time, please contact me.

Alamo City School and PBS

Alamo City School is located in Alamo, TN.  We have an enrollment of approximately 660 students in Pre-K through 6th grade.  As a result of our 2010-2011 TCAP scores, our school was recognized as being one of the top 18 schools in student growth for Reading and Math.  We were also recognized as a top school for overall achievement.  This is the second time for ACS to receive state wide recognition for its TCAP scores.  In 2007-2008, ACS was listed in the Top 10% of the state for its achievement scores in Reading and Math.
We strive to provide a safe environment that is conducive to learning.  Alamo City School is a PBS (Positive Behavior Support) school.  We strive to reward good behavior.  Our school rules are 1) Be Ready 2) Be Respectful 3) Be Responsible.  We have a Red Devil 200 Club, where there are 10 Red Devil tickets floating through the school each day.  These tickets are given to students that are caught being good.  At 1:30 each day, students bring the ticket to the office and get a prize and are able to draw a random number and place their name in the appropriate box on the 200 club board.  When we have 10 names line up in a row on the board, those 10 get to participate in the Mystery Motivator.  We also give compliment chain links to students or classes that are following school rules.  Each class has a compliment chain in their room and any student that receives a link, can add it to their classes chain.  When the chain reaches the floor, the class votes on how to celebrate.
